Champions League:

In the Champions League on Wednesday night, Calvin Bassey played the full 90 minutes for Ajax who suffered a 3-0 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Ajax started the game brilliantly, hitting the post in the opening minutes however failed to hit the back of the net with a number of chances.

Late in the first half and early in the second, a flurry of goals from Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliot put the game to bed.

Ajax need just a point to make sure they qualify for the next round of the Europa League when they race Rangers in Round Six.


League 1:

TJ Eyoma played the full 90 minutes in defence for Lincoln on Tuesday night as they beat Barnsley 1-0 thanks to a first half goal from Daniel Mandroiu.

Some great second half defending from Eyoma and his defence made sure the away were able to see out the rest of the game and move into 9th.


Mandela Egbo started in centre-back for Charlton who were unable to continue their four-game unbeaten run as they were defeated 2-0 by MK Dons.

Will Grigg scored a harshly given second half penalty before a great free kick from Bradley Johnson secured the three points for the away side.


Southampton loanee Caleb Watts  came on as a substitute for Morecambe in his sixth appearance for the club, as they lost 1-0 to Cheltenham Town.

A first half goal from Ben Williams at the back post gave Cheltenham the lead, before being able to see the game out in the second half.

Watts came on with just over 20 minutes to go, playing through a lovely ball to Kieran Phillips who smashed the woodwork with just a few minutes to play.


Junior Tchamadeu scored just his second professional goal in Colchester’s 2-2 draw at home to Crawley on Tuesday night.

Alex Nadesan opened the scoring brilliantly from 20 yards before the away side scored a goal either side of half time, thanks to Ashely Nadesan and Kames Tilley.

Fellow JusBall athlete Al-Amin Kazeem then came on in the 53rd minute, helping Tchamadeu score with a brilliant finish from the edge of the box into the bottom right hand corner.


Kwame Poku scored in his third successive game for Peterborough as they comfortably beat Accrington Stanley 3-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

After a poor start leaving The Posh a goal down, Ephron Mason-Clark made things even with an unbelievable strike before Poku tapped home in the 51st minute.

A goal from Jonson Clarke-Harris secured the three points for Peterborough, with Hector Kyprianou coming on for the final few minutes


Wycombe Wanderers finished second best in an entertaining 3-2 loss at home to Cambridge.

Anis Mehmeti played 85 minutes, and was unlucky to see his long range strike hit the post in the first half.

Goals from Sam Voakes and Lewis Wing weren’t enough for the home side, who slip mid-table to 13th in the League.


National League:

Emmanuel Onariase helped his side to a great point against 5th placed Boreham Wood in the National League.

The favourites (Boreham Wood) opened the scoring with a finish from Zak Brant early in the second half before Myles Weston netted 20 minutes later to save a point for the home side.


National League South:

Shiloh Remy played the full 90 minutes on the wing for Eastbourne Borough as they lost 1-0 to Hampton and Richmond.

Oxford City extended their unbeaten run to six games as they beat Taunton Town 2-1, with Klaidi Lolos playing the full 90 minutes.

Adebola Olowu started Chelmsford’s 1-0 loss to Tonbridge. Olowu and Remy come up against each other this weekend as Chelmsford face Eastbourne Borough.

Muhammadu Faal also played the full 90 minutes as Havant and Waterlooville drew 2-2 with Bath City. The summer signing opened the scoring for Havant with a great bicycle kick finish a few yards from goal.
